How Millennials Disrupt Workplace Technology

Millennials differ from other generations when it comes to technology at work.

Like all generations, millennials are made up of a diverse group of individuals with different preferences and opinions. However, when considered as an aggregate group, millennials are distinct from older coworkers. Understanding how millennials interact with technology is useful when selecting devices and designing workplace policies. Since millennials will, and do, make up a growing percentage of the workplace, it is important for IT to consider their technology use when making technology decisions for the enterprise.

“Millennials have the reputation of complaining about the technologies their organizations provide them for their work,” said Whit Andrews, VP, distinguished analyst. “In fact, they’re satisfied with the technologies they’re given, but are heavy users of organization-tolerated technologies that may not be approved, and also technologies that are not officially allowed at all.”
